Hello fellow Scrapbooker, My name is Tracy Montgomery and I just love scrapbooking... all kinds! I want to personally thank you for taking the time to check out my page and qualifications. I am married and a mother of 3 (as of this writing - ages 17, 13 and 9). I have been a nurse for 15 years and have enjoyed working with professional placements in the traveling medical industry for the last 8 years. Nursing combined with business and sales has given me the tools to be in leadership roles, lead others to success and to teach the art of turning possibility to reality. My skills in computer technology have increased fast in the last 5 years thanks to my business and ever expanding professional developments. It was either “learn” or sit back and watch the world move without you. Thank goodness I had learned how to be patient in nursing. I sometimes struggled through the obstacles of computer technology and the how and why they will or will not work (You know what that is). This human/machine bonding experience has strengthened my relationship with the computer and has increased my abilities to transition with new programs and systems as they are introduced into the world. What this means to you is that I’ve been there and struggled to get a handle on the changes in technology. I can show you in hours what it took me years to learn on my own! I live in Michigan and I started scrapbooking when my sister moved to Alabama to join my mother and other 3 siblings. This was devastating to me and I hated being alone without my, now; entire family. As I planned my sister's going away bash, I remembered a friend had once told me about a book she created for her husband when his father had passed away. In a crash course training that took place while my sister was sleeping between 1 and 5 am, I aggressively worked on my personalized (hand scrapped) book of our lives (memories) together in the same state. In around 5 days of very hard work, long hours into the night and a few sore body parts later, I created not only a scrapbook of pictures and memories for her to remember and talk about, but I gave myself a therapeutic solution. SCRAPBOOK THERAPY! I poured so much of my feelings, along with both sad and happy tears, into the creation of this book; I healed the pain I swore would never go away! As a
result, I have continued to scrap by hand and digital ever
since.
My best friend became interested and immediately after my sister's move, we scheduled a scrap weekend. We have continued once a month ever since. In the medical profession, I come across many who are searching for ways to process their family crisis or grieving for the loss of their loved one, I share, encourage and teach (when needed) the art of scrapbooking. For many, it starts them down the road to healing. Healing in ways that will allow them to express their grief, special moments that will make them laugh or cry and their minds will maintain a positive healthy outlook. SCRAPBOOK THERAPY… I will never forget my crash course that ignited my passion for scrapbooking and what I have gained since then. I love sharing this with others and teaching those, who are willing, to learn how to hand or digital scrap (even young children enjoy scrapping). The most difficult part to overcome is the start of your first page as a beginner, once that hurdle is crossed, you can’t tell the difference between a scrapper of 3 months, 1 year, 2 or maybe 5-10 years. It's just that easy, and for those who battle the budget and swear they have poor penmanship or cannot even draw a stick figure will surprise themselves on what they can do now that the computer can help them to create. Never to young or old to start a great hobby!
